Toner Stream

Toner is dustlike substance used in laser printers and copiers to form texts and images on printer paper. It consists of microscopic polymeric fractions with magnetic characteristics as a result of its static charge.

Original equipment manufacturers are usually in carton boxes. Toner Stream's streamed consumables are packed in water proof plastic bags. Do not expose either one (OEM or streamed one) to high temperature, moisture or light. Keep the toner cartridge in its package until its installation in the printer.

"Recharging a toner cartridge" includes cleaning its components, greasing the contacts of the cartridge and charging it with toner.

"Recycling a toner cartridge" includes replacing all of its components (OPC drum, blades, developer roller, magnetic roller, bushes, chip, etc.), greasing the contacts of the cartridge and charging it with toner.

The process of streaming a toner cartridge includes:

• testing the cartridge to diagnose its actual technical condition;
• cleaning its components;
• replacing the worn out components with new ones;
• greasing the contacts of the cartridge;
• charging the toner cartridge with toner.

The components of toner cartridges wear out as every other mechanism. Replacing them on regular bases is necessary in order to prevent negative effects in printing process such as streaking, poor printing quality, black dots, backgrounding, etc.

“Rhesus” is the number of printed copies when 5% of an A4 size page is filled that the toner cartridge should print before being streamed, recharged, recycled or replaced with original equipment manufacturer.

“5% of an A4 size page is filled” equals to 31 typewritten lines, 60 symbols per line.

A “chip” of a toner cartridge is an electronic device that gives an account of used toner quantity, number of printed copies and percentage of filled area on the page. Due to the chip, the printer indicates “toner low” and / or “cartridge empty” when your cartridge needs to be streamed. Not all types of toner cartridges have chips on them.

This is a toner cartridge sold along with your printing device. Usually the start toner cartridge contains less toner than the regular one - depending on the manufacturer of your printer.

It depends on the manufacturer of your toner cartridge and its type. Some start toner cartridges may, others—may not become consumables with a standard rhesus because the toner hopper does not allow the cartridge to be recharged with the amount of toner needed. In this case a possible option is charging the consumable with less toner at a lower rate.

The difference is in the rhesus of the toner cartridges. The small one is charged with less quantity of toner and it is reliable for smaller number of printed copies than the big one.

It depends on the manufacturer of the toner cartridge and its type. Some of the “small” ones may, others— may not become “big” cartridges.

Absolutely no! The warranty is regarding the proper usage of the printer itself. The type of toner cartridge used (OEM, recharged, recycled or streamed) depends on the customer only and is a matter of choice!

Toner Stream team guarantees that you will have at least the same amount of copies with a streamed toner cartridge as with an OEM. Many of our clients share that they get even more printed copies with the streamed consumables.

Replace the toner cartridge and print a few copies. If the problem still persists, it is most probably the printer that causes it. Some toner cartridges have a chip and it is the most probable cause of the problem. Other toner cartridges are with a safety fuser that might be defective. If so, the same problem would occur. In both cases, please contact our office for further assistance.

Usually the small black dots are in a result of worn out OPC drum or PCR. The toner cartridge should be streamed or replaced with a new one.

A possible cause of this negative effect is dirty corona wire. This is a thin metal wire in the printer or the cartridge that is of great importance in image printing process. To manage the problem, the corona wire should be cleaned. You can do this by yourself but be very careful because the corona wire can be easily torn apart. There might be different reasons. Usually white streaks as well as light printed image indicates low toner. The toner cartridge should be streamed. Another possible cause of the white streaks is dirty corona wire (same as “black lines” issue). Third possible reason for white streaks to occur is defilement of the printer’s optics. In this case the cause of the negative effect is not in the toner cartridge. You have to have your printer diagnosed.

There might be different causes of this negative effect. The most common reason for backgrounding is contaminated toner. Please, contact our office for further assistance. Another possible cause of the problem is moist or too thick paper. Please, consider the manufacturer recommendations for type of media you should use in your printer.

Negative effects in the image quality are not always due to toner cartridges or media. Dust, toner and different fractions fall into your printer daily. To avoid poor quality copies due to your printing device, it is recommended to do preventive maintenance of your printer at least once per 6 moths. You may need it done more often—depending on intensity of the printing process.

Toner is a chemical substance. When two different chemicals (types of toner) are mixed, it results in so called "contaminated toner". Backgrounding is the most common negative effect due to "contaminated toner".

Some toner cartridges have a seal which prevents the toner from spilling when the cartridge is being transported and/or stored. It should be removed before your toner cartridge is installed in your printing device. Make sure you have done that.

Sometimes this negative effect is due to the consumable. Another possible reason for ghosting is the fuser in the printing device. In both cases, please contact our office for further assistance.

One of the possible reasons is a damaged paper separator. In this case, the paper roller of your printing device should be replaced. Another possible reason for this negative effect is the usage of moist or unsuitable paper. Please, consider the manufacturer recommendations for type of media you should use in your printer.

The probable causes for this problem are in the printing device mainly – damaged paper separator, worn-out rollers in the fuser, paper in the machine from a previous paper jam, etc. For this reason, a service technician should diagnose your printing device and repair it, if needed. Another possible cause of paper jams is the usage of unsuitable paper – moist, too thin, too thick cardstock, etc. Please, consider the manufacturer recommendations for type of media you should use in your printer.
